ETI Members' Roundtable
CORRECTIVE ACTIONS:
SHARING BEST PRACTICE

Date: 1st October 2002 Event
Report
Time: 12:00 - 15.00
Venue: Littlewoods, Sir John Moores Building, 100 Old Hall Street, Liverpool

Background:

All ETI member organisations are required as part of their membership commitment to provide an annual progress report to ETI. All corporate members are required in particular to report on progress in monitoring and implementing the ETI Base Code according to a common reporting framework. The criteria for assessment include the detection of non-compliances and subsequently corrective actions taken where non-compliances are found. Corrective actions can be seen as a yardstick when measuring commitment to ethical trade.

A key trend evident from the comparison of data presented in the 2000 and 2001 annual reports is the large increase in total number of unresolved non-compliances. In contrast the increase in corrective actions was small and primarily accounted for in one area of the Base Code. Furthermore, the variation between the performance of companies highlights that lessons can be shared in how to progress considerably in these two areas.

Objectives:

To increase members' understanding of how to implement corrective actions.
