C8: Putting workers centre stage – more examples of innovative corporate practice
quicklinks: briefing paper, presentations
Critical issues workshop
The plenary session on this topic made the case for actively involving workers in code implementation, and highlighted one example of how a company can get workers engaged. This workshop will provide further practical examples of different ways in which companies can seek to involve workers, including new initiatives addressing freedom of association, worker education and/or workers’ complaints mechanisms. It provided participants with:
- Further practical ideas and tips for engaging workers
- better insight into the challenges of worker engagement and how they might be overcome.

Based on presentations and discussions from the conference, this set of briefing papers has been designed to provide practical guidance to brands, retailers, suppliers and others on addressing cutting edge issues in ethical trade, such as resolving difficult non-compliances, improving purchasing practices, and working with trade unions.
