Findings and recommendations from a case study in Vietnam (garments and footwear) reports on the findings of one of five in-depth case studies carried out as part of the ETI Impact Assessment study, which was conducted by the Institute of Development Studies (University of Sussex) 2006. 2. Southeast Asia Research Centre (SEARC): Database of Labour Law

SEARC, part of the City University of Hong Kong, conducts applied research in economic and political development, including research on labour practices and trade in China and South East Asia. Their website features a Database of Labour Law which provides comprehensive information on labour law and practice in Vietnam (and also Cambodia, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand).

The sections are actually extracts from a full country report, which can also be downloaded from this site.
 

3. Asian Labour News

This is an online database of news about workers in Southeast Asia and China and the issues that affect them.

How do I get hold of a copy? See www.asianlabour.org. There is a search facility that allows you to search by country and/or issue.
 

4. CSR Asia Weekly

CSR Asia Weekly is a free publication published by CSR Asia that provides a weekly roundup of CSR news and events in the Asia-Pacific week, along with a number of special articles that examine current issues in more depth. It draws on specialists from the region who work on the ground in environment, labour and CSR. Topics covered include: child labour, corruption, governance, environment, human rights, labour law, health, occupational health & safety, poverty, migrant workers, reporting, supply chains, sustainable development, trade and wages.

5. CSR Asia Website

CSR Asia (see 3 above) also manage a website, which provides short summaries of CSR news stories’ from a wide range of international newspapers, often with commentary from researchers at the University of Hong Kong. The site allows browsers to search by country and/or issue eg, Vietnam, trade unions.
