“I continue to be impressed by how member companies feel ETI provides safe space to explore common problems openly, with other companies AND with TU and NGO members.”

Forthcoming Events – diary of forthcoming and recent events.

As a learning organisation, we consider our programme of seminars, roundtables and conferences to be a central aspect of our work. Aimed at our members and others involved with labour codes, our events provide practical information and guidance on key ethical trade topics to our members and others who can put ethical trade knowledge into practice.

We produce summary reports from most of our events - to obtain copies of these reports, click on the relevant link below, or contact the ETI Secretariat.

We run three types of events:

Members' Roundtables - these events provide an informal and confidential forum for our NGO, corporate and TU members to discuss and share their experience of tackling ethical trade issues, and obtain practical information and guidance on specific topics they prioritise. While participation at the events is restricted to members, the reports from our roundtables are available to non-members. Examples of recent/forthcoming roundtable topics include prison labour and freedom of association.

Seminars - we also run seminars that are targeted at/open to non-members. Examples of recent topics covered include purchasing practices (the impact of retailers’/brands’ purchasing practices on working conditions and how this can be improved), and the phase-out of the Multi Fibre Arrangement.

International Conferences - we organise an international conference every two years to bring together people involved in ethical trade from all around the world. These conferences provide a unique forum for participants from all walks of life and all around the globe to share practical experiences, make new contacts and develop their understanding of ethical trade issues. Our next international conference will take place in London on 12-13 May 2005.
