ETI conference 2005 - Shaping a new agenda

C4: Harnessing SRI in support of ethical trade

Critical issues workshop

The value of socially responsible investment (SRI) has increased enormously over the last few years, and brands and retailers increasingly quote pressure from investors as a reason to adopt, or continue to implement, an ethical sourcing strategy. But are they asking the right questions? Can SRI initiatives do more to encourage good corporate performance? This session provided participants with an insight into:

  • The latest SRI trends in relation to ethical trade, including how SRI analysts currently assess corporate performance
  • What SRI analysts should be looking for – perspectives from leading reporting initiatives and ethical trade practitioners.

BRIEFING PAPERS

Based on presentations and discussions from the conference, this set of briefing papers has been designed to provide practical guidance to brands, retailers, suppliers and others on addressing cutting edge issues in ethical trade, such as resolving difficult non-compliances, improving purchasing practices, and working with trade unions.
