Background:
The ETI smallholder guidelines respond to a complex and frequently asked question: what does application and monitoring of the ETI Base Code look like where small agricultural producers are concerned? In the absence of specific industry-wide guidance on implementing labour standards with smallholders, the ETI Smallholder group set off over a three-year period to respond to this need. The result is a set of comprehensive and practical recommendations containing dedicated sections and tools for different actors throughout the supply chain.
The launch offers you:
- An introduction to the ETI smallholder guidelines which
contain dedicated sections and tools for different sets of actors in the
supply chain,
- An opportunity to understand the process by which these have been developed,
as well as the credentials of group members and stakeholders who produced
them;
- An opportunity to subscribe to the list of those piloting the ETI smallholder guidelines and to feed your experiences into the learning framework.
Speakers:
- Dr. Maggie Opondo, ETI Local Project Officer
- Louise Nichols, Foods Ethical Manager, Marks & Spencers.
Panellists:
- Steve Homer, Commercial Manager, Flamingo Holdings
- Teresa MacKay, Transport and General Workers Union
- Caroline Driver, Programme Co-ordinator, Africa Now.
