Table 1: How ETI member companies performed in 2002

• Number of significant corrective actions
  The figure counts corrective actions that involve a new investment or change to management practice (not the enforcement of an existing practice, eg, correcting mistakes in overtime pay or refilling a fire extinguisher).
• Number of unresolved non-compliances
  The figure refers only to those cases where there is risk of significant physical harm to supplier employees, or a non-compliance involving a pattern of ongoing breaches to rights provisions in the Code.
• Complaints procedure in place?
  Does the company operate a complaints mechanism in its supply base by which employees, trade unions or NGOs can alert the company to Code breaches independently of the inspection process?
• Verification system?
  Does the company employ an additional, independent process of checking the robustness of supplier audits, whether the original audits were carried out by company staff or audit companies?

Notes: Company J did not submit a report this year. Companies X to AD are new members and were therefore not required to report last year. Companies D, E and M are no longer members of ETI. The same company code letters are used as last year, so that Company A above refers to the same company as Company A last year. *unclear on number of sites affected n/a - not available.
