Overview
Impactt Ltd provides both off-the-shelf and tailor-made country reports and briefings covering labour and other social issues. The two main products in this regard are their Labour Law Summaries and their Country Briefings. The former are formatted against each element of the ETI Base Code with a concise summary of the law and brief information on the key issues where non-compliances are likely in that country. The latter provide key statistics, social and political background and a more in-depth look at the key labour rights issues. Both products build on research of publicly available information sources, supplemented by the practical auditing experience of Impactt staff and interviews with relevant local specialists where deemed necessary.
About Impactt

Specific services they provide include strategy consulting, factory assessments, training for internal staff and for suppliers, research and report writing, development of systems and tools, brokering partnerships with local organisations and managing collaborative projects.

How information is collected
When preparing country briefings and reports, Impactt rely on three key sources of information:
- A desk/web review of publicly available literature and information sources.
- Impactt’s own auditing and consultancy experience in the country in question.
- Supplementary interviews with relevant local contacts where deemed necessary.
Key strengths
- Impactt will provide tailor-made briefings, so clients can get exactly the type of information they need, appropriate to a particular product area and in the level of detail desired. Since Impactt is used to working with a corporate clientele, they present information in a concise, client-focused and “corporate-friendly” style.
- They can make use of up-to-date in-house field experience. Their in-country briefings can build on the experience of Impactt staff who regularly conduct factory assessments and related consultancy assignments in key sourcing countries.
- They can make use of a network of local contacts to supplement information. Through their work with local NGOs in key sourcing countries for factory assessments and collaborative projects, they can draw on a network of local contacts to supplement or clarify information. They also have a local office in China.
Less strong on…
- No legal checks on information. As stated clearly in their disclaimers, the ‘Labour Law Summary’ documents they prepare are not verified by labour lawyers.
- Do not systematically work with local organisations to collect or check information. With the exception of China where they have a local office, the research process for preparing country briefings does not always involve collecting information from local organisations with relevant “hands-on” experience and expertise.
Countries covered
Impactt Ltd are willing to consider preparing a briefing for any country, but they would be able to prepare stronger briefings on those countries in which they have practical experience – currently some 25 countries mainly in Europe and Asia.
Note: Impactt does not necessarily have off-the-shelf country reports, but can produce tailor-made reports according to clients’ needs. Countries listed refer to those countries where Impactt has auditing and/or consulting experience.
The countries in which Impactt has practical experience are shown on our generic table of availability by country/provider. If you have already consulted this, please proceed to the next section (below)...
