ETI is a leading source of expertise on modern slavery, including on business reporting obligations under the Modern Slavery Act. In November 2018 we launched our Modern Slavery Statement Evaluation Framework, which sets out what ‘good’ looks like when writing a modern slavery statement and gives businesses a structured approach to improving over time. It has been endorsed widely as exemplifying best practice in modern slavery reporting, including by the UK Home Office.
ETI itself is not obliged to produce an annual modern slavery statement. However, we take the risk of modern slavery as seriously in our own operations and supply chains as we encourage others to do in theirs. We have therefore decided to publish our own statement, which we hope shows best practice for an organisation of our size and type.
ETI is a small, non-profit organisation that does not sell goods or services. Consequently, our operations and supply chains are very different to those of the big retailers that are typically the focus of discussion around modern slavery statements. In line with our Framework, we have written a statement that is appropriate and proportionate to our needs and resources. As we advise others to do, we have included a clear set of risks together with an action plan and robust KPIs for monitoring our progress. We will report against those KPIs in our next modern slavery statement.
