ETI is pleased to invite you to a Gender Learning Event to mark International Women's Day 2023.
Over the past 40 years, the growth of the ready-made garment industry (RMG) in Bangladesh has triggered a social change by generating considerable formal employment opportunities for women. The industry has made women visible in the labour market and empowered in society.
However, in recent years the proportion of women workers in the sector has been on the decline. Women no longer comprise 80% of the RMG labour force in Bangladesh and these changes have significant implications for women’s economic empowerment, as well as the well-being of their families and communities. It is also likely to impact on business models for manufacturers and buyers alike.
Join us on 7 March to learn more about the findings from a ground-breaking study commissioned by ETI Bangladesh and GIZ on the declining numbers of women in the RMG sector in Bangladesh. In addition to sharing key insights from the study, an expert panel with representatives from business, NGO and trade unions will explore the implications of the findings for businesses, suppliers and the future of the RMG sector in Bangladesh.
Event details are as follows:
Date: 7 March, 2023
