Between 2002 and 2013, the Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) worked with homeworkers and the supply chains they work in, in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh in Northern India. In 2011 we began a phase of the project funded under DFID's RAGS Challenge Fund1 and replicated the model we had been using in Bareilly in Sangam Vihar, an informal settlement or slum in South Delhi. This is a major sourcing location for many industries, including leather and jewelry. The ETI project focused on developing and testing a set of guidelines for companies working with homeworkers and for others within the supply chain.
