At its 21st March meeting, ETI’s Board decided to terminate Fyffes’ membership of ETI. Fyffes has been suspended from ETI since May 2017.

ETI member, Fyffes, has been under suspension since May 2017 following complaints by Banana Link and the International Union of Foodworkers.

The ETI Board decided to maintain Fyffes’ suspension while recognising that positive engagement has taken place and acknowledging that in entrenched disputes it can take time to build meaningful dialogue.

ETI’s tripartite board reviewed the suspension of Fyffes’ membership at our Board meeting on 14 September 2017.  

ETI's Board decided that Fyffes “had not demonstrated that it understood or acted on its obligations as a member of ETI to implement the provisions in the ETI Base Code”

Fyffes' membership of ETI suspended.

In April 2016 ETI received an official complaint about the dispute from the IUF (the International Union of Food Workers) and the NGO Banana Link.

Allegations of human rights violations in Honduras and Costa Rica fruit sectors
