Your company depends on its workforce and those of your suppliers to meet orders, and workers want to work to earn money. However, the combination of these factors can lead to excessive working hours that can negatively impact your company and workers’ well-being.
Clause 6 of the ETI Base Code on working hours, which was revised with effect from 1 April 2014, helps clarify your responsibilities as an employer, while ensuring that workers’ fundamental rights on working hours are upheld. It is one of the most important Base Code clauses along with freedom of association, living wages and discrimination.
