Survey Research Consultant – Shrimp Supplier Survey Design

Ethical Trading Initiative (ETI) is a leading alliance of trade unions, NGOs, and companies, working together to advance human rights in global supply chains. 

We convene and collaborate with key stakeholders to improve business transparency and accountability and bring about positive change. A critical friend, ETI provides practical solutions to end the abuse of human rights at work, to make workers’ lives, and business, better. 

ETI is seeking an experienced Survey Research Consultant to support an exciting project exploring how purchasing practices in global shrimp supply chains affect suppliers and workers.

Purchasing practices such as short lead times, cost pressures and delayed payments can have significant impacts on working conditions and human rights. As part of ETI's Responsible Purchasing Practices programme, you will help design robust supplier surveys that generate practical insights to support more responsible business practices across the global food sector.

About the consultancy

Working closely with ETI's Purchasing Practices Programme Lead, you will:

• Design and adapt supplier survey tools for global shrimp supply chains.
• Develop an approach for data collection, validation and analysis.
• Advise on survey distribution and implementation.
• Support survey rollout, including accessibility and confidentiality considerations.
• Develop a practical analysis framework to help interpret findings.
• Provide recommendations for future survey development.

The consultancy is expected to require approximately 10 days of work between September and October 2026, with flexible remote working arrangements.

About you

We are looking for a consultant or consultancy with experience in:

• Survey design and quantitative research.
• Human rights, responsible purchasing, or supply chain research.
• Survey implementation and stakeholder engagement.
• Excel and R (or equivalent statistical software).
• Presenting data through clear visualisations.
• Managing consultancy assignments and delivering high-quality outputs to deadline.

Knowledge of shrimp supply chains and Responsible Purchasing Practices (RPP) would be an advantage.

Budget

The available budget is up to £3,500 (inclusive of VAT where applicable).

Subject to project needs and successful delivery of this first phase, there may be an opportunity to undertake a second phase of consultancy work in early 2027.
