ETI and Partner Africa help African agricultural suppliers mitigate risk of Covid-19

All sectors of global business have been navigating rough waters during the pandemic, particularly those in developing economies. An assessment conducted by ETI and Partner Africa of agricultural suppliers in Africa revealed that many felt ill-equipped to properly manage suspected or potential outbreaks of Covid-19 amongst staff.

In response, ETI and Partner Africa developed a Resource Pack designed to offer practical guidance on how to manage the potential risks of Covid-19 in the workplace, including targeted topical worksheets, procedural flow charts and communications assets for educating staff about what they can do to help keep safe.

“We are thrilled the pack has been very positively received. Suppliers have reported using the guidance documents and tools regularly,” explains ETI’s Maryam Duale. “Managers say a key benefit is that the variety of tools means they can reach workers more widely. For example, the videos and posters have been great for reaching workers whose literacy may not be strong. We’ve also heard how beneficial it is to have the tools available in local languages, which makes it much easier to share and disseminate amongst workers.”

The work was supported by the Vulnerable Supply Chains Facility (VSCF), a rapid COVID-19 response fund set up by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO), and managed by Mott MacDonald Ltd.
